5 Easy One-Pot Camping Meals (Less Cleaning, More Eating)

The worst part of camping cooking? Doing the dishes in the dark with cold water.

That is why One-Pot Meals are the holy grail of outdoor cooking. You dump ingredients in, cook, eat, and only have one single pot to clean. Simple, fast, and delicious.

Here are 5 foolproof recipes you can cook on any camping stove in under 20 minutes.

1. The "Lazy Hiker" Mac & Cheese 🧀

Ingredients: Macaroni, water, milk powder, cheddar cheese block (or packet).

Instructions: Boil the pasta in just enough water so it gets absorbed (don't drain!). When the water is almost gone and pasta is soft, stir in the milk powder and cheese until creamy.

Pro Tip: This recipe works best with a stove that has good simmer control. See which stove wins in our Jetboil vs. MSR Showdown.

2. Camping Tacos in a Bag 🌮

Ingredients: Ground beef (pre-cooked at home), taco seasoning, small bags of Doritos, cheese, lettuce.

Instructions: Heat up the meat in your pot with seasoning. Crunch up the chips inside the bag. Dump the meat and toppings directly into the Doritos bag. Eat with a fork. Zero cleanup!

3. Morning Oatmeal Power Bomb 🥣

Ingredients: Oats, peanut butter, sliced banana, honey.

Instructions: Boil water, add oats. Once cooked, stir in a huge spoon of peanut butter and honey. Top with bananas. This fuel will keep you hiking for hours.

4. One-Pot Pesto Pasta with Chicken 🍃

Ingredients: Rotini pasta, jar of pesto, pre-cooked chicken strips (or canned chicken).

Instructions: Boil pasta. Drain most water (leave a little). Dump in the pesto and chicken. Stir until hot.

5. Sausage & Potato Hash 🥔

Ingredients: Pre-cut potatoes, sliced sausages, onions.

Instructions: Fry the sausages in the pot. Remove them. Add potatoes and onions with a little oil/butter. Cook until soft. Add sausage back in.
