We have all been there. You hike 5 miles into the woods, set up your tent, get ready to cook a delicious meal, and then realize... you forgot the lighter.
Packing for a camp kitchen is tricky. You want to be prepared, but you don't want to carry your entire house.
To save your next trip, we created the Ultimate Camping Kitchen Checklist. Bookmark this page and check it before you zip up your bag.
1. The Cooking Essentials 🔥
- Stove: (Jetboil, MSR, or Coleman).
- Fuel Canisters: Always bring one more than you think you need.
- Lighter / Matches: Keep them in a waterproof bag.
- Pot & Pan: One versatile pot is usually enough.
Fuel Tip: Make sure you have the right fuel for the weather. Check our Gas Guide here.
2. Eating Utensils 🍴
- Spork: The spoon/fork combo is a camper's best friend.
- Mug: For coffee in the morning and soup at night.
- Plate/Bowl: Deep bowls are better than flat plates (food doesn't slide off).
- Sharp Knife: For food prep.
3. Cleanup Crew 🧼
- Biodegradable Soap: Regular dish soap harms the environment.
- Microfiber Towel: Dries fast.
- Trash Bags: Pack it in, pack it out. Never leave trash behind.
- Scrubber / Sponge: Cut a normal sponge in half to save space.
4. The "Often Forgotten" Items ⚠️
These are the items most people leave at home by mistake:
- Can Opener: Unless your knife has one!
- Spice Kit: Salt, pepper, and garlic powder in small tic-tac boxes.
- Oil / Butter: Put oil in a small leak-proof bottle.
- Aluminum Foil: Endless uses for cooking and storage.
Budget Hack: You can find many of these items for cheap. Check our Dollar Store Camping Hacks.
